Business Management and Psychology at Aberdeen go together brilliantly, providing a rigorous examination of how we think and behave as individuals and giving a thorough grounding in business, management and organisations. People are the most valuable asset of any business and this subject combination will give you in-depth knowledge of how people behave as part of a workforce – opening up a range of fascinating career options. In Business Management you’ll gain a wide perspective and thorough grounding in all areas of business, including skills in accountancy and statistics. Your knowledge will be developed in the dynamic, international environment of our Business School where there are 45 nationalities, small class sizes and where teaching is delivered by leading figures in the fields of business practice and theory, corporate finance and organisational change. Your learning will be supported by dedicated careers advisers. Psychology examines how people think and how people behave, increasing our understanding and explanation of human behaviour and experience and how these change and develop throughout our lives. This choice gives you all the advantages of our long tradition and special strength in psychology, for which the most recent national assessment of university research placed Aberdeen as the third best in the UK. With internationally known researchers, you will study topics such as how we ‘place’ faces, why older people may misinterpret sarcasm, how children learn empathy and how eye movements may help identify mental illness. The skills you will gain from this subject combination will open up opportunities in psychology-related fields, including human resources, social work, counselling and teaching and areas benefiting from an understanding of the human mind and behaviour, including marketing and advertising.
