Course summary
The BA (Honours) Digital Graphics for Games Production degree provides an ideal opportunity to explore the technical skills and software associated with digital design, animation and games production. You'll also explore how these subjects and associated skills are converging in industries at the cutting edge of global collaborative technologies. Currently subject to validation with a first intake planned for September 2023. About the course In years one and two, students combine theoretical work and assessments with modules that clearly focus on the understanding of production processes associated with digital and games-based design. Students will have some opportunity to choose modules that reflect their interests and career aspirations whilst still ensuring they have a clear understanding of skillsets that will allow them to succeed in the wider industries. Year three provides the opportunity to show academic understanding with a dissertation whilst also analysing what skill sets they need to improve to meet practical and software based understanding needed in the industry through the completion of a module in Advanced skills in Digital Design. Finally, students undertake an independently planned and managed production project to demonstrate their skills to potential employers. The BA (Hons) Digital Graphics for Games Production is taught at our ultra-modern City Hub campus providing access to professional equipment, studio spaces and Adobe Creative Suite along with other relevant software. You will also have numerous opportunities to engage with other students preparing to get into the creative industries and work in response to industry briefs. What you will cover: Year 1 Indicative Modules (120 credits): -visual imagery -stories in games and interactive media -interactive design -interactive game Year 2 Indicative Modules (120 credits): -graphics for apps and games -animation production And choose two from: -games asset production -app development -3D production or -coding for games Year 3 Indicative Modules (120 credits): -dissertation (graphics and games) -advanced skills in interactive design independent project Progression and careers Digital Media has employability at its core, with extensive industry links and live professional projects. Employers highly value multi-skilled creatives, with the visual communication skills necessary to produce effective campaigns across all digital media for a variety of audiences. Through our industry links, we have achieved a very high graduate employability rate. This programme also provides an ideal base from which to go on to postgraduate study.
