If you have an interest in working with adults in a care or residential setting and want to develop to a higher level to enhance your career opportunities, or progress to an undergraduate degree, the Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care Practitioner, offered in partnership with Bishop Grosseteste University, will equip you with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills to enable you to meet your personal and professional aspirations. Students on this course will be taught with the aims of developing a diverse range of students with the skills, knowledge and insight to enable them to make a positive contribution to the care, well-being, development and support of the individuals, families and communities with whom they work. For those who are undertaking work in the care sector, the course aims to develop existing practice by extending their underpinning knowledge and understanding of the sector, through detailed examination of associated theories and concepts. Delivered at Grantham College, the course features a blend between classroom work-related learning. This approach embeds a mix of practice-based work which results in learning in the Health and Social Care setting, alongside structured learning at the institution. A variety of assessment methods are used including presentations, discussions, written assignments such as essays and reports and portfolios of work focused learning.
