Course summary
This course is subject to approval. Global media industries are undergoing dramatic change – through consolidation, digitization, AI, globalisation of media and other economic and sociological factors. This course recognises that to meet these challenges the media industries need leaders and managers who understand both the industry and also core business skills, structures and processes to effectively steer companies through these innovative times. This course builds on City’s long-standing excellence in arts management education and expertise in the media, creative and cultural industries and Bayes’ strengths in business management and leadership. You will critically engage with the big picture of the media industries, developing a sensitivity to issues of equality and diversity in the media industries workplace and familiarising yourself with the legal and ethical questions that pertain to managing in the media industries. You have the ability to deepen and tailor your learning with electives drawn from advanced topics in media management, specialised sectors of the media industries and entrepreneurial or placement modules to make yourself more employable.
Entry requirements
First or second class honours degree (or international equivalent) in any subject. We also welcome applicants with industry experience in the media, information, communication or business sectors.
