Modules
You’ll study innovative approaches to how young children engage in learning, observe children in their own learning environment, and develop effective strategies to improve their literacy and numeracy skills.The Early Years Education Top-Up also features a dissertation, which offers you the chance to study an area of professional interest at length and develop your academic research and writing skills in preparation for postgraduate study. Honours Top-ups are Level 6 qualifications that enable the conversion of a Foundation degree or equivalent qualification into a full Honours degree.
Assessment method
Assessment is via a combination of written exams, practical exams and coursework. The assessment breakdown is 10% practical exams and 90% coursework. There are no written exams on this course.

Entry requirements
Qualification requirements
You will be expected to have successfully completed a Bath Spa University accredited Foundation Degree in Early Years or equivalent qualification and will normally have achieved a minimum average grade profile of 50% in year two of your Foundation degree or equivalent qualification. If you do not have formal qualifications, previous experience may be taken into account. Candidates will be assessed on an individual basis. It is a condition of entry that you will have secured a suitable work-based learning setting by the time of admission.

Please be aware that you will be required to complete a Criminal Records Bureau enhanced disclosure check prior to undertaking school placements.
Interview
We normally invite a number of applicants to our interview days. You’ll be asked to complete a short written task, and then you’ll have an individual interview with a member of the programme team. We’re looking for your motivation to study the course, and also evidence that you keep up-to-date with developments in the sector. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to ask any questions you have.
