Course summary

Gain an MSc in Psychiatry part time in one of the following specialties: Neurodevelopmental disorders, Child and Adolescent mental health, and Neuropsychiatry. All UK home students must be registered health care professionals working with individual’s experiencing mental health issues. This can involve inpatient or community treatment settings in NHS or social care settings. Home students accessing the MSc Psychiatry must work in mental health in order to meet the programme requirements. We strongly encourage informal discussions before application with the programme leader for international and home students. Please email enquiries to [email protected] Attendance will be one afternoon per week face to face (allow additional time to study and prepare assessments). This route is for UK home students only. If you are an experienced international psychiatrist, who has already achieved higher postgraduate qualifications, we also have a International Training Fellowship route available. Why study this course with us? This course is a unique blend of academic learning and subspecialty clinical training. Face to face sessions have been designed to accommodate busy professional working commitments (one afternoon session per week). Occasional evening sessions and weekends maybe required. The teaching team are all experienced psychiatric clinicians or mental health researchers.

Assessment method

Assessment methods will include poster presentations, seminar presentations, clinical audit, reflective case study, written assignment and research dissertation.


Entry requirements

UK/EU students must primarily work in a mental health setting, have a minimum 2:2 honours degree classification in a health-related subject, and must be a registered healthcare professional. Applicants without a degree, but with substantial experience, may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
