Course options

Course summary

As technology progresses, we become more reliant on electrical and electronic systems to control mechanical devices and as such the opportunities for employment in this sector have increased. This full time HND fully prepares learners for progression on to a degree whilst also enhancing their profile for a range of successful careers in engineering. You may already have some experience in the industry and wish to progress your career. All students will be encouraged to participate in work experience schemes in order to cement theoretical teaching into practical application; this will enhance career opportunities on completion of the course.

Assessment method

All students will complete a Project Module, which is seen as a major contributor to the overall qualification as it involves a very high level of individual commitment with the support of highly qualified, motivated and committed lecturing staff. External examiners have continually identified the project as a particular strength of the programme, and past students have saved their companies thousands of pounds through new and innovative ideas implemented in their projects. Assessment is by a series of assignments during the course and in some units there is an additional end examination. Whilst the normal route for study on this course is on a four unit per year basis, it may be possible to study a smaller number of modules per year. For further information on this subject, speak to a course tutor or visit one of our events.
