Course summary

What makes a good leader? Find out as you develop an invaluable business toolkit and build an impressive foundation of knowledge. During our MSc Business and Management course, you’ll discover how to make good business decisions based on sound analysis and gain a solid grasp of business essentials. Examine the factors that affect a company’s success and master modern business theory. Innovative businesses need effective operations management. You’ll study valuable tools and techniques like marketing and product development. You’ll conduct business research and look at financial data ready to champion new ideas at work. People skills are integral to good management too. We’ll help you explore key issues in leading, managing and developing people as you find your leadership style. Focus on your interests with an optional module and an independent research project. Choose from international finance, brand management, innovation or human resources. What you'll study We’ll introduce you to the fundamentals of business on our business and management Masters. You’ll study the complete business environment taking a deep look into the conditions that affect how an organisation behaves. What does the future of work look like? You’ll debate the impact of our digital society on human resources and operations. Which jobs will disappear? How should leaders plan for changes in their workforce? You’ll look at the importance of developing people as part of your business strategy and debate the effect of good leadership on staff retention and profitability. You’ll also explore the digital revolution’s effect on operations and project management. Where should business leaders look for exciting growth opportunities? Alongside core business theory, you’ll develop essential tools and techniques for strategic management and gain professional research skills as you create your supervised independent project. You can develop new specialist knowledge with one of our optional modules. Study global financial markets, strategic brand management, human resources, or entrepreneurship and innovation.

Assessment method

The programme combines several different forms of assessment to test intellectual development, vocational capability, and critical thinking. Coursework often involves both individual and group-based tasks. Case studies and problem-solving exercises are used, requiring the completion of a variety of written tasks, reports and project work.


Entry requirements

You should have a degree equivalent to UK first-class or second-class honours (2:2 or above) in a subject other than business and management. You may also be able to join the programme without a degree, subject to an interview, if you have appropriate professional qualifications or experience.
