TEF Silver
Birmingham City University has opted into the TEF and received a Silver award.
This course will nurture you to become a highly creative practitioner within the global fashion industry. You will develop your full potential by building knowledge, experience and skills for either the menswear or womenswear markets. Following guidance from industry experienced specialist tutors you will be supported to achieve your own aspirations via focussed projects, competitions, internships and live briefs. You will gain links within the industry taking advantage of extensive contacts with both international and regional companies. The course provides skills in design development and realisation, CAD, illustration, pattern cutting, the history and context of fashion, and production methods related to both industrial manufacture and bespoke production. This course has excellent links to international fashion brands, including Burberry, Karen Millen, Abercrombie and Fitch, Adidas, H&M and Iris Van Herpen. Staff have industry experience within computer aided design, pattern cutting, fashion history and design and have worked alongside many internationally recognised brands. Learn to work with the Gerber pattern cutting and design system, widely used in the industry alongside supportive staff that are well placed to inspire and shape your future careers. Each year a selection of our final year students showcase their final year work to industry leaders at events such as Graduate Fashion Week and New Designers in London.
