Course summary
This course allows you to top up your existing qualifications to an honour’s degree in two years, whilst benefiting from all that Northumbria University and the city of Newcastle has to offer. This course has been designed to give you the ideal balance between a broad understanding of business, whilst developing your specialist knowledge in accounting and finance as well as transferable professional and managerial techniques. The course includes specialist modules that cover personal finance and wealth planning, decision making in the financial environment, strategic management accounting, and financial reporting. Ranked 46th in the UK for Accounting and Finance (Complete University Guide 2022), this course provides an excellent foundation for jobs in finance, banking, government, and general business leadership. One in six of the UK’s top 100 chief executives started out with a finance or accounting degree. Your tutors will use a variety of teaching methods, which may include lectures, seminars, problem-based workshops, case discussions, practical activities, group work and tutorials. Teaching is backed up by a well-designed support system that will underpin your learning journey. You will have access to a Guidance Tutor with whom you can discuss any academic issues. Extensive feedback from both tutors and peers is built into the course.
