Course summary
Gain practical teaching skills and classroom experience alongside theoretical knowledge in TESOL. You'll get advanced training in the theory and techniques of applied linguistics and have a chance to get qualifications such as TEFLi and TKT. Course Description On this course you'll be taught professional skills in language teaching methodology, in teaching, reading and writing, listening and speaking, and how to teach grammar and vocabulary. As well as gaining practical teaching skills and classroom experience alongside theoretical knowledge in TESOL, you'll get advanced training in the theory and techniques of applied linguistics. You'll also have a chance to gain qualifications such as TEFLi (CELTA equivalent) and TKT (University of Cambridge Teachers’ Knowledge Test). As part of the course you'll study theoretical approaches to teaching English to speakers of other Languages in the research environment of an academic department and put these into practice in our English Language Teaching Centre.
How to apply
International applicants
Overall IELTS score of 7.0 with a minimum of 6.5 in each component, or equivalent.
Entry requirements
Minimum 2:1 undergraduate honours degree in linguistics, English language and/or literature, or a modern language. We can also accept a related subject, such as education or psychology if you have experience of language teaching.
