University of Westminster, London has opted into the TEF and received a Bronze award.
Based within our Centre for Research and Education in Arts and Media (CREAM) our research into music is part of 1 of the UKs leading centres for research in visual media art, design and music. It boasts over 30 researchers and 30 PhD students, including internationally renowned artists, filmmakers, photographers, theorists, critics and musicians. The focus of our music research is on popular music, with different and complementary approaches to music technology and production, original composition, performance, and popular musicology and analysis.

Entry requirements
Applicants should have a minimum classification of 2.1 in their first degree or equivalent and preferably a master's degree (or masters degree pending). Applicants whose first degree has not been studied in English should have IELTS 6.5 overall and 6.0 in all elements. Applicants need to submit a research proposal of 2,000–3,500 words. It should include a title of proposed research, identify discipline and formulate research questions clearly. It should also include proposed research methodology and plan of work and time schedule. References are normally required and if not provided with your application will be requested at a later date.
