Immerse yourself in the business-side of performance sport at an institution that's won over 30 major sports titles and produced over 200 international athletes. You’ll benefit from our partnerships with local and national sports clubs and businesses. Gloucester Rugby is based on site and we have our own Championship rugby team. The foundation year option will give you the subject-specific knowledge and skills needed to progress on to the BA (Hons) degree. You'll develop your skills in business, finance, HR, event management, sponsorship, branding, marketing and more. A work placement in your second year, alongside an optional sandwich year, will prepare you for your career. You could also complete your Chartered Institute of Marketing qualification, widely recognised by employers across the world. Recent graduate destinations have included business, events and marketing roles with Pitch International, Inside Rugby, Sweetspot Group, Gullivers Sports Travel and Sahara Force India Formula One Team.
Our modules are developed regularly to reflect student and industry demands, ensuring you’re well prepared to enter skilled employment on graduation. The majority of courses are comprised of both compulsory and optional modules, the latter of which you'll be able to choose from to suit your interests and career goals. Most courses also include work placement learning, to help you gain essential experience for your future. Modules include: Foundation Skills Development, Academic Skills in Practice, Reviewing Literature, Foundations of Business Enterprise and Management, Foundation Sports Science, Personal Management and Development, Introduction the Sports Industry, Understanding the Business and Economic Environment, Contemporary Issues in Sport Management, Introduction to Technology in Sport, Introduction to the Principles of Marketing, Research in Professional Practice, Professional Placement Experience, Sport Research and Knowledge Exchange Project. Modules are sometimes subject to change. Optional modules change each year - you can attend introductory sessions before deciding which ones to study. The student satisfaction data is from students surveyed during the Covid-19 pandemic. The number of student respondents and response rates can be important in interpreting the data – it is important to note your experience may be different from theirs. This data will be based on the subject area rather than the specific course. Read more about this data on the Discover Uni website.
