If you are interested in all aspects of how and why we learn, both formally and informally, in the UK or abroad, then studying Education will challenge and excite you in equal measure. Studying Education with Liverpool Hope will help you to develop academically as you engage with evidence and research, professionally as you link theory to practice, preparing you for a wide variety of work contexts, and personally as you think more deeply about your own values and aspirations. Your studies will bring education to life, tackling important questions such as ‘Can education help overcome inequality in society?’ and ‘How does modern technology transform the learning and teaching experience?’ It is structured around the four key disciplines of education: psychology, sociology, history, and philosophy. Each discipline provides a different lens through which key ideas and issues in education can be understood. Studying Special Educational Needs (SEN) with Liverpool Hope University will enable you to understand the relationship between disability and education and provide you with the knowledge and confidence to educate others about the nature of disability. SEN incorporates insights from disability studies and education, as well as drawing on work in the arts and humanities, to ensure you gain a broad and balanced understanding of education in a wide range of contexts. A central aspect of the course is an understanding of medical and social constructions of Special Educational Needs and Disability, the legal requirements regarding provision for SEN/ Disability and a critical understanding of past and contemporary practices. By completing your studies in SEN, you will have gained a knowledge and understanding of the global perspectives on special education and disability and issues relating to children and families, as well as having the ability to critically engage with professional expertise.
