Course summary

The Professional Certificate in Education (PCE) at Nescot is a full time (Pre-Service) one year course validated by the University of Greenwich. This course is meant to provide individuals with a professional teaching qualification, in particular those without a degree but having a professional or vocational competency qualification at level 3 or above and who would like to teach students aged 14 years or older learners. Students on a NESCOT higher education course are typically taught in class sizes of 16 or fewer. Modules: The PCE incorporates the mandatory modules for teaching qualifications and additional modules to support your continued professional development. All modules are assessed via coursework and aim to facilitate professional development. The qualification is awarded with a pass, merit or distinction classification. Entry requirements

Qualification requirements

Students are required to hold a Level 3 qualification in their subject specialism and an English GCSE grade 4 or above, or equivalent. There is no formal entry requirement for numeracy or IT, however, support will be available for students wishing to achieve level 2 in both these areas by the end of the qualification. This may require some independent study. Also required is access to 100 hours of teaching practice over the two years. If you already hold a teaching or training qualification, please refer to the Tariff of Qualifications (ITT) Database for accreditation of prior learning and discuss with the admissions’ tutor at interview.
