Course summary

Practitioners who undertake this programme will be highly motivated practitioners who demonstrate a strong commitment to developing District / Home Nursing practice based on the integration of critically appraised evidence with professional expertise. It is expected that students will have a wealth of previous experience which will be utilised, challenged and built upon. The programme embraces a facilitative approach to learning, coordinated to support the practice element at the centre of the programme. All modules are mandatory and are mapped against the Standards for Specialist Education and Practice (District Nursing) (endorsed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council).

Entry requirements

Registration on Part One of the NMC Register An honours degree normally at 2:2 or above Three years post registration experience, of these three years, the year immediately preceding application to the programme must have been in the primary care setting Or: Registration on Part One of the NMC Register Evidence of your ability to work at master’s level (to be discussed with Programme Lead) Three years post registration experience, of these three years, the year immediately preceding application to the programme must have been in the primary care setting Confirmation that a Practice Teacher or Sign-off Mentor will be available to supervise and assess in the practice area Confirmation that a medical practitioner will be available to supervise and assess the prescribing element. DBS check which needs to be within 3 years when commencing prescribing element
