Course summary

The course encompasses a wide range of the public and private sectors and develops the skills and attributes that are fundamental in any public, voluntary or private service industry. The course uses CRC's excellent links with relevant external agencies, for example, the Royal Marine Reserves, Army Reserves, Police Specials, County Councils for guest lectures and additional opportunities for students thus ensuring vocational experience is placed at the heart of this programme. During your time on the course you will have the chance to attend extra residential activities. You will be taught by highly qualified and experienced practitioners who have a wealth of experience in the public services industry. This full-time course is delivered in college over 3 days per week by staff with extensive vocational experience from the field of the Public Services. The course design includes units which will provide students with a wider insight to the Public Services which are assessed using a variety of methods including essays, reports, personal reflection and presentations with extra individual support being provided as required. The units delivered throughout the duration of the course are: • Organisational Structures and Culture • Mental Health and Wellbeing Equality • Diversity and Fair Treatment • Public Services in Contemporary Society (Pearson-set) • Personal & Professional Development • Modern Warfare and Conflict • Outdoor Skills Development • Psychology of Behaviour

Assessment method

This full-time course is delivered in college over 2 days per week by staff with extensive vocational experience from the field of the Public Services. • Relevant level 3 qualification eg BTEC, Access to HE Diploma or 2 A levels • GCSE English and maths at grade 4/C or above or demonstrated competency at L2 or above • Mature students without appropriate level 3 qualifications should have a keen interest in the subject and/or relevant work experience
