Course summary

Psychology is the science of the mind, behaviour, experiences and relationships. The importance of psychological expertise is recognised across all walks of life and aspects of human functioning. A core focus of this course is on developing graduates who have the ability to interpret and apply a broad range of relevant theory and scientific evidence to understand the complex interactions that take place in the mind and between people. Students will explore a diverse range of psychological disciplines including cognitive, behavioural and ecological approaches; and also gain experience in emerging areas including cyberpsychology and cognitive neuroscience.

Modules

Year 1 - Introduction to Psychology Research Methods, Quantitative Research Methods, Applying Psychology, Conceptual and Historical Perspectives, Introduction to Learning, Cyberpsychology. Year 2 - Advanced Research Methods, Cognitive Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, Biological Psychology, Applied Psychological Skills. Year 3 - Dissertation, Individual Differences. Optional Units - Working with Teams, Cognitive Neuroscience, Educational Psychology, Advanced Developmental Psychology, Contemporary Issues in Psychology, Occupational Psychology, Cognition and Emotion, Rehabilitating the Brain, Clinical Psychology, Positive Psychology
