Why study this course? Our Sports Therapy MSc course is designed for sports scientists and similar graduates who wish to learn clinical skills and apply their knowledge to a therapy setting. You'll learn how to diagnose and treat sports injuries and develop practical and clinical skills. Completing the course will make you eligible for membership of The Society of Sports Therapists (SST), which gives you licence to practice as a sports therapist. In the most recent Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey, 100% of all 2017 graduates from this course were in work or further study within six months. This MSc focuses on developing your ability to diagnose, treat and rehabilitate sports injuries or dysfunction. It includes the development of practical, patient-handling and clinical decision-making skills. Modules
Modules include: Clinical Skills in Sports Therapy, Sports Application to Practise, Sports Rehabilitation, Scientific Frameworks for Research, Manual Therapy for Peripheral Joints, Manual Therapy for Spinal Joints, Work Placement, and Dissertation.
Assessment method
A variety of methods will be used to assess your performance including literature reviews, seminar presentations, written seminar papers, time-constrained assessments, practical examinations (including viva voce) and the dissertation.
Entry requirements
You will be required to have a lower second class (2:2) honours degree in sports or exercise science. Graduates with related degrees or other suitable qualifications will be considered on an individual basis. Equivalent overseas qualifications will also be accepted. All applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language.
