Course summary

Extend your foundation degree or HND to a full BSc (Hons) degree. This unique programme provides you with a mixture of applied business concepts and science-based modules infused with equine management. This makes the course ideal for applicants who want to move into self-employment, small company management or are considering an equine career in a scientific context, including postgraduate study, research and teaching. Your applied research project will allow you to explore a topic of your choice in detail with individualised support from your supervisor. You’ll evaluate and better understand current industry practices, giving you work-ready skills and knowledge. Guest lecturers with industry and research experience will complement your learning, and provide you with networking opportunities in areas you’re interested in. You'll have the opportunity to be involved in on-site research projects or gain an insight into the commercial areas on campus, such as at the Equine Therapy Centre.

Our modules are developed regularly to reflect student and industry demands, ensuring you’re well prepared to enter skilled employment on graduation. The majority of courses are comprised of both compulsory and optional modules, the latter of which you'll be able to choose from to suit your interests and career goals. Most courses also include work placement learning, to help you gain essential experience for your future. Modules include: Investigative Skills for the Successful Undergraduate, Applied Research Project, Applied Business Management, Developments in Equine Science. Modules are sometimes subject to change. Optional modules change each year - you can attend introductory sessions before deciding which ones to study.
