Course summary
This is a three-year work-based learning course delivered at Kingston College in an Integrative-Relational approach to counselling. It is validated by Middlesex University. The course focuses on developing the skills and knowledge required to work with adults on an individual basis and emphasis is given to the importance of the student's personal development as an essential part of the process. Entry criteria for the above course: L2 Counselling qualification and significant relevant experience and/or L3 Counselling qualification Four GCSEs including English and Maths at grade C/4 or above (or international equivalent) Proof of the above qualifications must be shown at enrolment
Modules
The course aims to facilitate students' professional development as integrative-relational counsellors primarily through six main components: •Personal development •Theoretical input •Counselling skills training •Theory into practice •Supervision of counselling case work •A work placement is an integral part of the course It is a requirement of this course that candidates should be in therapy for a minimum of 70 hours overall with an approved therapist during Years 2 and 3 of their study. Students are required to make a regular and active commitment to all aspects of the course. A minimum of 80% attendance is required. The award requires the accumulation of 360 credits, 120 credits for each year of study.

Suitable applicants will be required to attend a formal selection day with the course leader - either in person or online.

Applicants' previous life experiences both personally and professionally will be considered in assessing their suitability for the course. Further details will be requested once the UCAS online application has been received and considered. Provided the above entry requirements have been met applicants will be offered an invitation to attend a Selection Day. The Selection Day activity is an essential component of the application process notwithstanding any personal attributes of the applicant and qualifications held. Experience of working with people in a helping capacity is desirable. Due to high demand, early application is advised.
