Course summary
Implement a variety of health intervention programmes to increase physical activity in order to prevent and treat major illnesses. Developed in response to the government's drive for a more physically active and healthier nation, this course will equip you with the knowledge, experience and skills to thrive in the field of physical activity, exercise and health. As part of your course, you’ll:
- Examine the key disciplines of the exercise sciences and physical activity policies, from the causes of disease, to behaviour change strategies
- Look at the design of interventions which promote and enhance the nation's health through prevention and treatment
- Learn to design and deliver your own physical activity, exercise and health programmes that can have a lasting and positive impact on people's lives
- Develop your understanding of physical activity and its importance to all of us
- Learn how to encourage healthy habits through childhood and adolescence into adulthood and old age
- Work directly with people from all age groups to develop skills that work in real-life scenarios
- Access to the university’s new state-of-the-art Carnegie School of Sport building
- Sport volunteering opportunities, which have previously included global events such as the Olympics, World Athletics Championships and Commonwealth Games
