The Business and Management degree at Kent is far-ranging and through detailed theory and hands-on experience, builds important leadership skills across a range of business areas. As you progress, you’ll be introduced to the advanced concepts of many business and management disciplines with the flexibility to tailor your course to suit your interests. The Foundation Year is for students whose school-leaving qualifications are below the level required. Modules
Stage 0: The Foundation Year aims to extend access to university education to students from a wide variety of educational backgrounds and age groups and prepares these students for our three or four-year degrees. On successful completion of your Foundation Year, you move on to the first year of our BSc (Hons) programme, with the option to undertake a Year Abroad or Year in Industry as part of your course. Stage 1 Your first year is designed to provide you with a solid foundation in the understanding of business practices and their related functions, such as marketing, human resource management, and accounting. The analysis of the fast-changing business environment and the development of software and employability skills complement the business-related content. Stage 2 In the second year you will develop your understanding on key concepts and theories to enhance your intellectual agility and provide an opportunity to apply theory to practice. You have the opportunity choose optional modules to tailor the programme to your aspirations and interests ranging from marketing analytics to retail and entrepreneurship. Stage 3 Your final year has a greater focus on developing your strategic thinking though topics such as leadership and corporate strategy, strategic marketing, and critical approaches to human resource management you will develop your critical and analytical thinking. You will also be able to choose optional modules in various business-related topics to prepare you for your future career. The research project gives you the opportunity to develop your research skills and deepen your knowledge on a specific business aspect.
