Course summary

Want a career working with children and young people, making a difference in their lives? Your real-world experience will be valued and you'll study health and wellbeing topics, including mental health. Our course reflects contemporary practice-focused interventions to support individuals and communities, founded on a social justice approach to practice. You'll graduate passionate about the welfare of young people in the modern world. Course Overview You will study a range of modules taught by a team of supportive lecturers with professional experience and academic specialisms. You will learn about the challenges and opportunities young people face, the contexts for these challenges and the support they require. Learning is dynamic on this course, with a focus on real-world and simulated real-world applications of topics studied, to best prepare you for your future career. Simulation exercises will provide you with a safe environment to develop your confidence, and practise and refine your skills. Case studies based on serious case reviews will enable you to explore complex ethical and professional dilemmas, and develop your critical thinking and decision-making abilities. Our lecturers bring a wealth of professional practice experience and real-world knowledge, providing you with insights into current trends and best practices in health and social care. This is complemented by external speakers who will offer unique perspectives that broaden your understanding of the diverse needs of the community. You'll be provided with opportunities to understand the core principles of social prescribing and the positive impact it can have on health and wellbeing outcomes, as part of a personalised care approach. It'll also support you to understand the roles of individuals, services and organisations in delivering a social prescribing pathway, and the actions and processes required to support a successful referral to community provision. In years one and two, you'll experience placement opportunities where you can gain a RSPH Social Prescribing Award. On this course you will
