Actuaries are problem-solvers who can think strategically, drawing on their mathematical skills to measure the probability and risk of future events. This profession offers a satisfying and financially rewarding career path across areas such as general insurance, life insurance, pensions and investment. This degree programme combines core mathematics with specialist modules in probability, statistics, actuarial and financial mathematics, and business economics. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from qualified actuaries with many years of industry experience. Year 1 Actuarial Professional Development I Calculus I and II Computing and Data Analysis with Excel Economics for Business Management Introduction to Probability Numbers, Sets and Functions Probability and Statistics I Vectors and Matrices Please note all modules are subject to change.

Assessment method

Most of your modules will be assessed by an examination worth at least 90 per cent of the year’s study, with the remainder covered by coursework and tests. Management modules are assessed using a combination of coursework (presentations, assignments, essay report writing, in-class tests, research and project work) and/or examinations in May or June.
