Over the last decade, marketing has been revolutionised by data analytics, allowing brands to improve brand strategies and business management and therefore, to deliver better experience through personalised communication. MSc Marketing and Data Analytics is designed to provide an advanced study of marketing analytics which is both practically and academically relevant to the current and future demands of the marketing profession. We work closely with industry practitioners so that you benefit from expert’s real-life experience and the latest sector trends. Through specialist modules, you'll develop an advanced conceptual knowledge of the value of data analytics in contemporary organisations, and be introduced to the latest methods and techniques that enable identification of data to answer strategically important questions. You'll be well-equipped to work in the analytical area of organisations, with the knowledge of the latest industry trends and skills to draw actionable insight from customer data. Modules

In the first semester you'll be introduced to the course through the modules Marketing for the Boardroom, Informed Customer Insight and Data Analysis and Visualisation. You'll then study Data Mining for Marketing, Informed Decision Making and Web Analytics and Digital Strategy in the second semester. In your final semester you will take on a experiential project, giving you a fantastic opportunity to use the theories and knowledge you've gained to produce a challenging and meaningful piece of work. Projects include: Consultancy Experience Project, Internship Experience Project and Business Research Project. Throughout the year you will also study the modules Transformational Leadership Development and Researching Your Market. If you study the course over two years, you will also study Placement Diploma in Industrial Experience.

Assessment method

A range of assessment methods are used across the course, the choice of which reflects the needs and demands of the different types of module. Some modules will assess the ability to work collaboratively in a team and others will assess individual capability. Types of assessment will range from examinations to group presentations including essays, reports, financial analyses, literature reviews and research based projects.

Entry requirements

Our MSc Management and Business Analytics course introduces you to the world of ‘big data’ and the impact it is having within businesses across the globe. In your first semester, you will shape your leadership and management skills to become an effective 21st century manager, gaining and excellent understanding of the core subjects, enabling you to put theory and contemporary thinking into practice. During your second semester, you’ll understand the value of business analytics within an organisation, its impact on decision-making and the problems faced in interpreting big data. You’ll face practical challenges and focus on applying descriptive statistics to analyse real-world data. You will be developing skills within: quantitative methods for data analysis; understand the business analytics process; acquire the knowledge to identify machine learning models to predict uncertain events in a business environment; Finally, in your third semester, you’ll choose an experiential project. With the opportunity to use your skills in a real-world setting, you can choose from completing a consultancy experience project, an internship experience project, a business research project or a global experience project. This course has Dual Award status with the Chartered Management Institute.
