This is a challenging and coherent course which will provide you with an in-depth knowledge of business economics theory and practice, rooted in real world business and economics applications. How you learn: All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive. The course is suitable if you don't meet the entry requirements for our BA (Hons) Business Economics course, or you want extra preparation before starting degree-level study. You share the first year with other Sheffield Business School foundation year students, then move on to the degree. You will learn in a supportive, challenging and exciting environment. You will be based in Sheffield Business School, a vibrant, dynamic setting with excellent facilities and located in the heart of the city. You learn through:

In the foundation year, you'll study wider business topics, while specialising in your chosen subject area. You'll learn useful skills such as academic writing, work in diverse teams and learn to utilise a wide variety of data sources. In doing so, you'll fully prepare yourself for undergraduate study. Applied learning - Work placements You will have the opportunity to arrange a year-long work placement in between your third and fourth years. This gives you a real-world experience to prepare you for your future career. Our students have recently gained work placements with national and international organisations, including Adidas UK, Airbus UK, AXA, Bosch, Coca-Cola Enterprises, General Motors, Hay, IBM UK, Lloyds Banking Group, Marks & Spencer, Metropolitan Police, Microsoft, NHS, Royal Bank of Scotland, TNT Express, Vauxhall Motor and Walt Disney Company. Live projects Some modules will allow you to participate in projects in collaboration with companies or experienced professionals from a variety of sectors. Field trips You will have the option to engage in overseas study in semester 2 of your third year at one of our European, or international, partners. Networking opportunities You can join the student-led International Business and Economics Society to meet others and discuss and debate current events in the economy and business world. The society arranges social events and hosts guest lectures by academic experts and industry practitioners. We are proud of our links with our alumni and you will have numerous opportunities to network with them.

Our tuition fees for UK students starting full-time undergraduate study in 2024/2025 are regulated by the UK government and are yet to be confirmed. For an indication, our tuition fees for UK students starting full-time undergraduate study in 2023/2024 are £9,250 per year. During your placement year you will pay a reduced fee of £1,200. Our tuition fees for International/EU students starting full-time study in 2023/24 is £15,860 per year. During your placement year you will pay a reduced fee of £1,500-£2000.
