Course summary

The expertise that comes from developing your legal knowledge is a valuable skill used in several different roles, including the legal sector, finance, human resources, local government, education and management. We offer a style of legal education that is modern, forward-thinking, career-focused and accessible. Upon completing the CertHE course, you can progress to the Law and Legal Practice (LLB) course, which prepares you to complete the Solicitors’ Qualifying Exam (SQE).

Modules

Year One – Level 4 (CertHE) • Criminal Law (20 credits; compulsory) • Criminal Litigation (20 credits; compulsory) • Learning in the Digital Era (20 credits; compulsory; Graduate Attributes Framework module) • Legal Process (20 credits; compulsory) • Principles of Professional Legal Practice (20 credits; compulsory) • Public Law (20 credits; compulsory).

Assessment method

The course will be assessed by a mixture of written coursework, simulations, workbooks, presentations and exams. Each module is worth 20 credits which would equal two assessments per module with the equivalent of a 2,000- 3,500-word assignment or an exam per 10 credits, depending on level of study.
