Course summary
The course is a way to convert from other engineering disciplines, as a range of modules is offered to suit differing backgrounds and experience. The modular structure of the course offers a great deal of flexibility, allowing students to choose the modules that most reflect their interests and feed their research project.
Modules
Example modules include: Power Networks; Electric Machines, Drives and their Applications; Power Electronic Applications and Control; Power Networks with Laboratory; Advanced Control System Design; Instrumentation and Measurement. The modules we offer are inspired by the research interests of our staff and as a result may change for reasons of, for example, research developments or legislation changes. This list is an example of typical modules we offer, not a definitive list.
Assessment method
Assessment is usually performed via a formal examination and coursework.
Entry requirements
2:1 or equivalent grade in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. Applicants are expected to have covered modules such as Maths, Electric Circuits, Power Electronics, Power Network/Systems, Control Engineering, Electrical Machines or related key technical modules.
