University of Leicester has opted into the TEF and received a Silver award.
If your ambition is to become a Registered Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) then this course is for you. With clinical placements in Derbyshire, Leicester, Lincolnshire, Nottingham, and Northamptonshire where you will spend 65% of this 100 week programme. Here you will care for patients and learn the realities of life as an ODP, whilst under the supervision of expert registered practitioners within the operating theatre environment. Your experience is greatly enhanced by the 48 weeks a year timetable.
The course commences twice each year in Autumn and Spring and consists of 15 compulsory Modules, 5 in each year of the programme enabling the student to develop their knowledge and skills from foundation to advanced level. A wide variety of assessment methods are used
You will be taught through a variety of methods including lectures, small group work, supervised practice, self-study and reflective learning. We will help you integrate theory and practice and ensure that you develop personally as well as professionally. We adopt a progressive approach to learning so that your skills are acquired at an appropriate pace.

Applicants over the age of 21 with non-standard qualifications and/or appropriate vocational experience are encouraged to apply as applications are considered on an individual basis. When considering your application, we will look for evidence that you will be able to fulfil the objectives of the programme of study and achieve the standards required. We will take into account a range of factors including previous examination results.

English language requirements
IELTS 6.5 or equivalent is required. If your first language is not English, you may need to provide evidence of your English language ability.
