Course summary

When the world of business is defined by uncertainty what’s the best strategic move and where are the opportunities? How can we position ourselves to make the most of change and challenge? An Executive MBA gives you the tools to respond to these key questions. Our two-year programme is tailored to the demands of working professionals, focusing on capability, capacity and knowledge for career progression. Online learning using your workplace as the context is blended with face to face workshops, which take place in convenient three-day blocks typically on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday. You will be taught by specialists from our world-class faculty and you’ll benefit from Lancaster University Management School’s recognised strengths in strategy, corporate social responsibility and international business. We use theories as a framework for discussion and collaborative learning is crucial to what we do. Students from diverse backgrounds, roles and sectors share their unique experiences and perspectives as we work in partnership to explore and resolve complex management and business issues. You will have the chance to hear from industry guest speakers and engage with our Leaders in Residence and Entrepreneurs in Residence. An optional elective module ‘Consultancy Challenge’ gives you the opportunity to spend an intensive week working on a team-based project in another company. The programme runs in Lancaster and Ghana and connects you to a valuable global network of past MBA students and wider LUMS alumni. This gives you unlimited access to other minds, perspectives and professional expertise to continue your learning and development into the future.

Core modules: Strategic human resource management and organisational behaviour; marketing management; business economics; leadership practice and responsibility; dissertation; managing strategic change; consultancy challenge; research methods for managers; corporate finance; strategic management; financial and management accounting.

Assessment method

Assessment methods include: Work based assignments, examinations, UK consultancy challenge project and dissertation.


Entry requirements

2:1 Hons degree in any subject, or an equivalent professional qualification. We may also consider non-standard applicants, please contact [email protected] for information. Additional Requirements: A minimum of five years' full-time professional/managerial work experience; An interview with the programme director; All successful applicants are required to complete the EMBA admissions essay. Further details will be provided with your offer. English Language Requirements: We may ask you to provide a recognised English language qualification, dependent upon your nationality and where you have studied previously. We normally require an IELTS (Academic) Test with an overall score of at least 6.5, and a minimum of 6.0 in each element of the test.
