Course summary
The Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate/ Diploma in Computing offers students a broad introduction to the subject area, effectively building underpinning core skills while preparing the student for progression onto the HND level 5 top-up. Students will gain a wide range of sector knowledge tied to practical skills gained in research, self-study, directed study and workplace scenarios. Students will develop broad knowledge and awareness of key aspects of the computing sector through six core units, which include one unit assessed by an assignment.

Assessment method
The course is delivered by a series of lectures, seminars, tutorials, assignments and project based work. There is a strong focus on practical work, devising group strategies and solutions and feeding back via formal presentation. Students are also encouraged to work independently and to develop the necessary skills to enable the presentation of the highest standard with regards to academic submissions. The combination of theory and practice will enable students to engage in a wide range of activities that reflect modern day policing practice. Assessments may take various forms and could include essays, reports, presentations, reflections on learning, and practical demonstrations.
