Course summary

The Master’s in International Accounting and Finance is designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills of the fundamental principles of financial management which are relevant to global business, in order to enhance their operational effectiveness in this particular area or to serve as preparation for further study or an academic career. The programme covers areas such as financial management within banks, and regulation and finance functions within generalist and non-finance firms such as FMCGs (consumer goods firms). The focus is on key elements of corporate finance, banking, economics, regulation, international finance, portfolio management and applied quantitative methods. The aim is to produce ethically responsible specialists who have a strong financial and banking perspective in relation to corporate activity, pension funds, investment funds and international financial markets. Throughout the programme, there will an intensive use of the financial software packages that are most widely utilised in industry, and students will obtain advanced training in the use of these packages. The Master’s programme in International Accounting and Finance is built on a foundation of general Financial Management, International Banking and Derivatives Pricing and valuation modules. The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) accredit this programme. Entry requirements

A degree awarded by an approved UK or overseas university, in accounting and finance, economics, management (with significant component of economics and/or accounting and finance) or a quantitative science such as mathematics, physics or engineering. Exceptional candidates without the academic qualifications but with appropriate professional qualifications may be admitted on their merit. There is no requirement for previous work experience. Minimum IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
