Course summary

Reliability Engineering and Asset Management are critical to industries throughout the world, and this PGDip offers a flexible option to study. It is estimated that a significant amount of annual plant cost is spent on maintenance. Maintenance costs are likely to influence competitiveness on a global scale and therefore those working in maintenance can impact their company's bottom line in a positive way. The aim of these courses is to equip candidates to do just that and to give companies the technical and managerial expertise to thrive in the global marketplace. Our Reliability Engineering and Asset Management (REAM) courses cover management techniques, organisation, planning and application of engineering knowledge to manufacturing processes to improve the efficiency of the operations of industrial and civic buildings. As well as the Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma options, we also offer the following courses which you may be interested in:

Postgraduate Certificate This course is available on a part-time basis with the following options:
  • Part-time on campus, 1 year (4 x 1 week teaching blocks per year) This option is only available for Home students
  • Part-time distance learning, 1 year (Students study two units per term and each unit includes a one day online webinar)
Students studying for the Postgraduate Certificate qualification select the four course units they would like to study from the eight available units and complete them on a part-time basis over 1 year. Postgraduate Diploma The Postgraduate Diploma is available on a full and part-time basis with the following options:
  • Full time on campus, 1 year*
  • Part time on campus, 2 years (4 x 1 week teaching blocks per year) This option is only available for Home students
  • Part-time distance learning, 2 years (Students study two units per term and each unit includes a one day online webinar)
*Whilst overseas applicants have the option of studying this course on campus, please note that, under current rules, they would not be eligible for the GIR post-study work visa after completion their studies.


Entry requirements

The standard academic entry requirement for the PG Diploma and PG Certificate is a Lower Second Class (2:2) UK honours degree or international equivalent, in a relevant science or engineering discipline. Candidates must also have previous relevant industrial experience demonstrated by an up-to-date CV.
