Course summary

The purpose of Pearson BTEC Higher National in Fine Art is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the fine art sector and adapt to a constantly changing world. The qualification aims to widen access to higher education and enhance the career prospects of those who undertake them. Housed in the historic setting of Penzance School of Art, the HND Fine Art at the University Centre Truro and Penwith is an exciting course which encourages the development of a personal, fine art identity through direct, practical engagement with materials and processes such as contemporary painting, drawing, installation and site-specific work, sculpture, textiles, printmaking, ceramics and kiln formed glass, all of which are underpinned by cultural and contextual studies. Future employment could include: Artist in Residence Freelance Fine Artist Art Gallery Curator Art Teacher Art Editor Art Therapist
