The Level 5 Foundation Degree in Hospitality and Visitor Economy Management course is designed for people who are looking to progress to a management career in the hospitality and tourism-related industries and take the opportunity to specialise in the Culinary Product Development sector. About the course This Foundation Degree is designed to provide the academic and vocational skills for a career within the hospitality and tourism industries. Academic and vocational skills development is essential preparation for progression to either higher level study or the world of work. With its strong practical emphasis, you’ll develop a broad range of skills and an understanding of the global hospitality and visitor economy industries. All of our lecturers have excellent, in-depth industrial knowledge and experience. We have long-standing links with local, national and international companies. A five-month industrial placement gives first-hand work experience. Students can visit a wide range of establishments worldwide, or find their chosen placement closer to home. There are opportunities to attend study tours abroad - most recently to BSG Interns in Florida - as well as a programme of local and national visits. A feature of the course allows the opportunity to personalise studies through a variety of specialist vocational options. This is intended to developing students’ learning and experiences through involvement in practical projects and activities:

Assessment method
Assignments are industry focused to develop the relevant skills of managing tasks and solving problems. Most modules are either individual or group assignments, some of which can be practical, using local industry contacts.
