Core modules: Accounting and Finance for Management This module provides the financial and accounting knowledge to be able to analyse, interpret, extrapolate and produce financial data. Intelligent Organisations This module gives leaders and aspiring leaders what they need to understand and act effectively in a world that is increasingly ‘digital’ and ‘connected’ – recognising the impact this has on existing ‘physical’ assets, and on the ultimate asset of any organisation, ‘people’. People in Organisations People are the key and most important resource in an organisation. This module focuses on the strategic management of the people resource in organisations and how this relates to the wider organisational context and business strategy. Strategic Business Management This module looks at the role of Business Strategy in organisations. It addresses the importance of strategy to the organisation and examines the process for developing and implementing an effective strategy. Supply Chain and Operations Management Future leaders need to be equipped with practical knowledge of how to effectively manage supply and demand within the supply network. This module explores the management of supply network relationships, as well as understanding the impact of efficient delivery in companies which value customer centricity. Optional modules: You can choose any three modules from the following: Innovation Participants will apply concepts, models, and frameworks to understand and critically evaluate the potential for innovation in corporations and start-ups. Leading Change This module provides participants with an opportunity to understand change – its drivers, risks, consequences and people’s responses. Personal Leadership and Change The aim of this module is to provide participants with the opportunity and resources to determine their own learning needs to enable them to develop as an authentic leader. Project Planning, Management and Control Project Management is an essential competence for managers and leaders. This module aims to teach the generic principles of project planning, management and control for any project in any environment. Technology Management Participants will consider the role that technology plays in supporting current and future business, and how to manage the technology from cradle to grave. Project To gain your MSc, you will also need to complete a Company Based Project. This will focus on a live issue within your organisation which you will explore, together with an academic supervisor from WMG, over a 12 month period. The project will culminate in the writing of a dissertation, which will count toward 1/3 of the credit of your degree. We will use a range of assessment methods that are appropriate to the topics being taught. Of course, you will need to undertake reading and assignments, but these assignments are usually related to your workplace and help you to apply what you have learnt. Students often find that the assignments provide valuable evidence of continuing professional development, demonstrate to their organisations their developing knowledge, and often benefit the company by providing an analysis of an area of operations.
Minimum requirements The course is designed for those in employment as you will need to apply your studies directly to the work environment throughout the programme. We recommend you have at least three years of appropriate professional experience and that you possess the equivalent of a UK second-class honours degree.
