Course summary

Scientific developments are possible due to mathematical applications while mathematical models inform decisions. Our course combines both pure and application-driven mathematics. By the time you finish your degree, you will be able to use maths to solve practical problems. Computers are used extensively in modern maths and we will introduce you to various mathematical software preparing you for industry. Our course will allow you to deepen your knowledge of mathematical techniques supporting industry, science, engineering, commerce, finance, and education. You will also develop your analytical skills to an advanced level. Our mathematics department is relatively small. This means we can get to know you personally, and offer a friendly and supportive learning experience. You can contact any member of staff to ask for help or attend one of our drop-in help sessions. You will also be able to join DUMaS (Dundee University Maths Society), an active society open to all students studying mathematics or mathematical biology.
