Along with theoretical business knowledge, our Business Management degree routes will give you the practical experience you need to make your professional mark from day one. How do businesses generate meaningful reports for other stakeholders and make decisions? What are the different tools we can use to analyse information? Our BA (Hons) Business Management with Analytics will help you to develop a specialised understanding of analytical methods and utilise software packages to support key business decisions alongside core business management skills. The course in brief Let’s talk business. When you study for a degree in Business Management at QMU you will gain a deep understanding of the nature and core functions of businesses. How do successful companies manage their resources? What is the best way to make an organisation environmentally sustainable? What marks out a successful business? People do business with people. If you have first-class management skills and practical expertise, people are going to want to work with you. Our Business Management degree routes are designed to give you the knowledge and skills that you need to thrive in the fast-moving marketplaces of tomorrow. What you will gain from this course On our BA/BA (Hons) Business Management you will: Gain a solid foundation in the core principles of business management, including marketing, human resource management, finance, economics, digital business, strategy, law, and operations management. Hone your practical business expertise with placements, guest speakers and project opportunities. Choose electives from a range of modules on offer. You will gain the maximum possible flexibility in Years Three and Four by being able to select modules from any of the specialised routes for your electives. Have the opportunity to apply for an exchange at a university overseas in North America, Canada, Europe or Australia**. Gain a degree that has a strong focus on employability, supporting you to develop your project management, problem solving, communication, innovation and other transferable skills valued by employers. All students enrol on our general Business Management degree for Years One and Two which will give you a solid foundation in the core principles of business management. At the end of Year Two we’ll discuss the route options with you and help you make you decide whether to stay on our general Business Management degree for maximum flexibility or if you want to, you can move onto one of our named routes.

Assessment method

Teaching, learning and assessment You will be taught in lectures, seminars and practical workshops. Outside these formally timetabled sessions you will be expected to continue learning through self-study. You will be assessed by a range of methods such as written exams, reports, poster presentations, business plans, live pitch, group presentations and negotiation role play. You will have the iterative support of Academic Development (AD) throughout your course to enable you to confidently manage the purely academic challenges of your study, and address the diverse technical requirements of your assignments. AD will be available not only as a regular taught component of your study timetable, but in the form of self-study materials available via your module hubs/websites etc. and as ad hoc one-to-one or small group sessions, which can usually be arranged at short notice.

Entry requirements for advanced entry (i.e. into Year 2 and beyond)

Successful completion of your HNC Business Management with a B in the graded unit can allow entry in to year 2. Successful completion of your HND Business Management with CB in the graded units can allow entry in to year 3. HNC/HND in Administration and Information Technology cannot be considered for advanced entry. We can consider applications to level 2 or 3 with suitable qualifications.
