Course summary

Study a degree specialised in cyber physical systems. Cyber physical systems is an area of computer science that is growing. Our course combines computer science knowledge with specialist skills in cyber physical systems. The key topics covered will include:

  • machine learning
  • neural networks
  • cybersecurity
  • human artificial intelligence interaction
You'll also study the fundamental areas of computer science. Our teaching and modules are linked to our own specialised research groups, giving you a wide range of optional modules to choose from. This also means you will be taught by experts in their field who use their own active research to support their teaching. You may recognise some of our tutors from the Computerphile YouTube series. To help support our students, we offer an Excellence in Computer Science scholarship which ranges from 10-50% off your tuition fees. In year two, you'll take part in a group project which involves designing and creating innovative computer systems. Many projects are in collaboration with industry. Previous students have worked with Capital One, Experian, IBM and UniDays. All these companies have offices in Nottingham. This project is great for your CV and can help you make contacts ready for when you start your career.

Modules

In the first year, you will be introduced to the fundamentals of cyberphysical systems. Examples of these systems include 'smart' devices such as a smarts, voice assistant devices and driverless vehicles. In your second year, you will study more advanced modules in artificial intelligence. This will build on your knowledge from the first year. Year three offers a wide range of flexibility. We offer lots of optional modules so you can choose what you study and tailor your degree to your own interests.
