Course summary
This course aims to prepare students for a range of technical, professional and management careers in Construction. It provides specialised studies that are directly relevant to individual vocations and professions that students are currently working in, or wish to work in. Students will be able to make an immediate contribution in their current employment, in addition to developing a variety of skills, techniques, personal qualities and attitudes that are essential for successful performance in working life. Upon successful completion of this course, students will earn one of the following qualifications (depending on module choices): HNC in Construction & The Built Environment (Construction Management) HNC in Construction & The Built Environment (Civils) HNC in Construction & The Built Environment (Quantity Surveying)
Assessment method
The HNC units are assessed through coursework. This will take the form of case studies, assignments, presentations and work-based projects. Each unit will have specific deadlines for individual tasks throughout each academic year. Each completed piece of assessed work is marked and graded at either pass, merit or distinction.
Qualified teacher status (QTS)
To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:

Qualification requirements
For students who have recently been in education, the entry profile is to include one of the following: - A BTEC Level 3 qualification in Construction and The Built Environment - An A Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subjects - 5 GCSEs at A* to C and/or 9 to 4 (or equivalent) is also desirable Other relevant Level 3 qualifications include: - An Access to Higher Education Diploma awarded by an approved further education institution - For students who have not recently been in education, related work experience will also be considered.
