GENETICS:- Understanding genetics and molecular genetics is fundamental to all aspects of biology, modern medicine and biotechnology. Genetics affects all aspects of life. A degree in genetics opens up a whole world of job opportunities in science, industry, healthcare, forensics, and beyond. You will undertake extensive laboratory training and acquire important transferable skills including problem solving, writing and presenting of reports, and critical analysis of written reports and data.

|A level||AAB||Must include either Biology or Human Biology or Chemistry. Applicants will receive an offer conditional on attaining AAB. Applicants who achieve AAB are guaranteed entry. Applicants who achieve grades less than AAB but higher than BBB will be considered for entry.|
|Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)||DDD||Acceptable in appropriate subject area. Must also have A-level Biology or Human Biology or Chemistry at grade B or above.|
|Access to HE Diploma||M: 30 credits||Acceptable in appropriate subject area. Must also have A-level Biology or Human Biology or Chemistry at grade B or above.|
|Scottish Higher||ABBB - AAAAAB||Must include either Biology or Human Biology or Chemistry plus at least one further Science subject.|
|International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme||36 points||3 HL subjects at 6,6,5 including Biology or Human Biology or Chemistry plus one other Science subject. Whilst HL6 is preferred for Biology and the other Science subject, SL6 will be considered for ONE of the subjects.|
SQA applicants entering from S5 are required to achieve AAAA/AAABB by the end of S5. Applicants who achieve less than AAAA/AAABB by the end of S5 but achieved at least ABBB MAY receive a conditional offer, but a decision will not be made on these applications until March once all applications have been reviewed. Conditional offers to these applicants will require them to achieve AAAAAB cumulatively by the end of S6.
