Course summary
Designed for students who have completed a Foundation degree or Higher National Diploma in Performing Arts, the Top Up Year of study allows students to continue to develop and deepen their technical and performance training in order to widen knowledge of the contemporary creative context. Professional opportunities for performers are increasingly diverse and broad, so students are provided with projects which allow them to work with tutors on the development of a full-scale dance and/or drama piece and to continue to develop the tools to work effectively and professionally as part of a company. To further the first hand industry experience of the programme the other key feature of this year of study is the collaboration with a professional theatre company/practitioner on a full scale original performance work, where students take on both a performance role and a production/administrative role. Students will also complete a research project on the performing arts topic of their choice, with the option of using practical work as part of their research.
