Course summary
Financial technology (or FinTech) is a significant growth area that promises to revolutionise the delivery and use of financial services. Given the importance of the financial sector to the UK economy, the UK government has stated its ambition to make the UK a global capital for FinTech. Banking is one of the most important sectors of an economy. As a primary source of funds for both corporations and households, banks also play a major role in securities issuance, underwriting and arranging, and other advisory based business including mergers and acquisitions. Developments, such as, globalisation, technological innovation, deregulation and increasing international integration have transformed the ways banks carry out their business as well as helping to make the sector more competitive. Our Banking with Financial Technology (FinTech) BSc degree offeres the opportunity to study banking and financial technology within a real-world context, developing strong analytical skills and a career-relevant qualification. The programme included a focus on the practical workings of financial institutions, as well as the economics that underlies them. The financial technology component provided the opportunity for students to develop valuable analytical, statistical and coding skills. ‘Placement Year’ and 'International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time. You can find more information about these options on our website and if you have any questions, please get in touch. If you don’t have the required qualifications for this degree-level course or are looking to re-enter education after time away from study, then a Foundation Year Programme might be the right choice for you.
