Course summary

Develop knowledge and skills to lead innovative development projects. Gain hands-on experience of creativity tools, technology management and commercialisation. This course is designed for engineering, management or science graduates who want to develop their innovation and technological/engineering expertise. You’ll learn about managing technology and innovation in rapidly evolving global organisations. You will also develop project management, strategic management and commercialisation skills. This is not a typical technology degree: we bridge the gap between management and technology/engineering. Two of Bath’s top departments, the School of Management and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, deliver this course. You'll explore the contemporary issues that occur when management and engineering meet. A focus on leadership and professional skills will help you graduate prepared for a range of careers. Learn in an international and interdisciplinary environment of academics, students and industry contacts. Our students come from all over the world. Building for the future Our new School of Management building opened in June 2022. The latest technology gives you a flexible and modern learning environment. The design focuses on working together, with an open layout to enable effective teamwork. Our new building encourages engagement with other students and academics. Learning and teaching You will learn from staff with backgrounds and expertise in relevant areas of management, engineering and technology. This course has been designed holistically ensuring the available units complement each other to meet its overall aims.

Modules

This course lasts 1 year. It starts in October 2023 and ends in 2024. Welcome week starts on 25 September 2023. How to apply

International applicants

If English is not your first language, you will need to pass an English language test. You will need an International English Language Test System (IELTS) score of at least 6.5 overall. Your scores for reading, writing, listening and speaking must be at least 6.0. These results must be no more than two years old from the start date of your MSc course.

Entry requirements

British qualifications Type of degree 2:2 or above in engineering, management or another relevant subject. If you are a UK student and completed your undergraduate degree abroad, your qualification must be equivalent to a 2:2 or above. Work experience In exceptional cases, relevant work experience may be a substitute for the degree requirement. You should have no more than three years’ relevant work experience. English language requirements IELTS You will need an International English Language Test System (IELTS) score of at least 6.5 overall. Combined offers If you have an overall IELTS score of 6.0 or 5.5 you may qualify for a combined offer. Five-week course An overall IELTS score of 6.0 may allow you to take a five-week English course before your MSc. Each of your listening, reading, writing and speaking scores must be at least 5.5. Ten-week course An overall IELTS score of 5.5 may allow you to take a ten-week course before your MSc. Each of your listening, reading, writing and speaking scores must be at least 5.5.
