The Foundation Year will prepare you for success at undergraduate level, giving you the relevant skills and knowledge required for studying in Higher Education. The BSc (Hons) Computing programme is designed to enable you to undertake a rigorous study of current theories, techniques and issues, and acquire the practical skills that are essential within the rapidly changing environment of Computing, so that you can pursue a related career or further relevant academic study. This programme has a focus on the use of Web technologies and particularly e-Commerce and online business systems. You will be provided with opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills in computing in a flexible way. Learning materials have been developed to allow you to make the best use of the time you have available for study and the programme delivery provides additional support through either online or structured tutor lead sessions. The curriculum provides a broad based experience exposing you to a range of relevant aspects of computing in a progressive way. Blended Learning: When you sign up for one of our compressed blended courses and become a student at an Arden University study centre, you get the best of both worlds. All the structure and personal tuition of a full time degree, coupled with the rich online resources and materials that our online students benefit from. This option is ideal for students who want the routine of a full time campus-based degree, without the full time commitment. This course is available to study at one of our study centres in Birmingham, Manchester, Tower Hill, Holborn and Ealing. Please note, that from February 2020 our blended learning fees will be changing on our undergraduate programmes. The cost of our courses remains lower than the average UK degree qualification. Online Distance Learning Online Distance Learning is the flexible way of pursing a higher education qualification. You can study an international qualification without putting your life on hold. You will be able to watch online tutorials and access all of your learning materials online, you can study from any place in the world, on any device, at a time to suit you, as long as you can access the internet. If you don't want the huge expenses of going to a traditional university, or you are looking to gain work experience alongside gaining qualifications, online study may be the solution for you.

Foundation Year Modules Developing Academic Skills; Using Numeracy, Data & IT; Research Skills and Using Information; Values, Ethics & Working Collaboratively; Structure of Business; Technology in Organisations Study Skills During the first 6 weeks (Block 1) you will also attend 4 study skills workshops, providing advice and guidance to help you achieve university success. Sessions may include Reading & Note-Taking, iLearn Online Library, Referencing & Plagiarism and Approaching Assignments. Year 2 (Level 4) Professional Development; Computer Technology; Website Design; Database Design; Software Engineering; Information Systems in Organisations Year 3 (Level 5) Data Communications; Systems Analysis & Design; Programming; Quality Systems in IT; Database Implementation; Dynamic Website Development Year 4 (Level 6) Management in IT; Current Trends in Networking; Computer Systems Security; e-Commerce Systems; Computing Project

Assessment method

Assessments are designed to provide you an opportunity to demonstrate your strengths in a number of ways and so a variety of methods are used, these could include: Assignments, Portfolios of work, Complete design documentation, Computer based activities, and Software development & project work. To support your development and ensure you are on the right track with your studies we will provide you with tutor feedback on every assessment you submit. If required, your tutor may be able to give you suggestions and tips for improvement and help you understand how to apply your newly acquired skills into real life settings.
