Course summary
This is a progression award for those who have completed the FdSc Veterinary Nursing or a related course with RCVS recognised veterinary nursing competences. It offers students the opportunity to build upon their existing knowledge and skills and is ideal for those wishing to pursue a senior management role or move into teaching and/or research. This course is delivered by Warwickshire College and validated in partnership with Coventry University, and is regulated by the Office for Students (OfS). Modules
Modules may include: Year 1 - Level 6 Dissertation Applied Pharmacy and Medicines Companion Animal Behaviour and Therapy Emergency Critical and Intensive Nursing Care Practice Management All the modules are 20 credits, except the Dissertation module, which is 40 credits. Each module will have its own specific assessment profile with the usual balance being 50% coursework assignments and a 50% formal examination element.

Every year, we welcome students from across the world to our college. Successful completion of this course will allow you to register with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons as a registered veterinary nurse. This allows you to use the post-nominals RVN, and work in the United Kingdom as a registered veterinary nurse. When looking to practice elsewhere in the world, you will need to determine if the UK qualification is accepted directly, or if you would be required to sit additional examinations (either written or practical). Entry requirements
Qualification requirements
Applicants will be required to hold a recognised Level 5 (240 credits) veterinary nursing qualification with an overall merit performance. This is typically a Foundation degree or a Higher National Diploma (HND). Applicants will also need to have their name held on the Register of Veterinary Nurses held by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).
