Course summary
You will receive training in the skills required for the reading and interpretation of the literature and translating that into evidence-based practice. We aim to develop your research and writing skills so that you will be in a position to contribute to the scientific literature in an effective manner, culminating in the production of an article in the style of a published journal article focusing on an orthopaedic topic of your choice. You will be welcomed as an individual to our Medical School, and you will be taught by both specialist academic and clinical staff, as well as world-class visiting lecturers who are active in orthopaedic research. All of our assessments are coursework-based and the majority of assessment topics are student-led, which means you can focus on increasing your specialist knowledge of topics that are relevant to you. We will teach you how to interrogate the evidence that supports the use of the current diagnostic methods and treatment strategies of various orthopaedic conditions to allow you to understand and evaluate the most advanced strategies available worldwide. Assessment method
Your assessment is coursework-based so there are no exams. The assessments include case studies, presentations, reviews and reports.
Entry requirements
Applicants must hold an appropriate first degree with a minimum of 2:2 honours (e.g. in Medicine, Biomedical Science, Dietetics, Human Biology) or hold appropriate professional qualifications and be able to demonstrate suitable background knowledge and skills. International: Students from countries outside the UK are expected to have entry qualifications roughly equivalent to UK A Level for undergraduate study and British Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) for postgraduate study.
