Foundation Year The course will provide you with the requisite science knowledge, enhance your study skills and give you an introduction to the employability skills required by health professionals. The Foundation Year is a well established and successful course which offers progression onto the full range of health degrees at Keele. The Health Foundation Year offers an opportunity for students to enter a degree course in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences who do not meet the necessary criteria for direct entry. This is often because they have not studied the subjects required or because they have gained non-traditional qualifications. The programme of modules is tailored to the student’s chosen degree route. Radiography After you have completed the Health Foundation Year, you could progress on to the Radiography (Diagnostic Imaging) programme which will prepare you for an exciting career path. It will equip you with the skills to work at the cutting edge of technology within the medical sector, working alongside scientists and engineers to develop new technology of the future. You will learn to understand and manage the patient’s needs as well as delivering care safely and effectively. You will also learn about the science and technology of diagnostic imaging and how this is used in this dynamic field of clinical practice. Diagnostics play a vital role in every patients’ care pathway and for 90% of all patients, this will involve some form of diagnostic imaging performed by radiographers. By studying radiography at Keele you will benefit from integrating with other healthcare students within the faculty, promoting the importance of working in a multidisciplinary team. You will get to learn in a variety of clinical settings including the University Hospital of North Midlands, which boasts one of the largest and busiest Imaging Departments in England. As a radiography graduate from Keele, you will have the skills and knowledge that you will need not only to set out on your chosen career but also the foundations to build on this through continuous professional development to reach your career aspirations in this exciting and dynamic field of practice.
