Course description This course blends theory and practice and a 12-month placement, giving you a strong grounding for a career in industry or research. It's designed if you are looking to specialise in control and systems engineering that may not have studied it before, or you may be an experienced professional, thinking about updating your knowledge. You’ll be able to take optional modules to further develop areas that interest you, including an opportunity to work with companies to work on real opportunities or problems experienced by industry. This version of our flagship course includes a 12-month work placement. You'll need to search and apply for the work placement. Furthermore, you’ll need to write a report and give a presentation based on your work placement. You'll also complete a research-level dissertation project where you will take the lead to advanced your knowledge and skills in systems and control engineering. English language requirements: Overall IELTS score of 7.5 with a minimum of 7.0 in each component.

Entry requirements

Minimum 2:1 undergraduate honours degree in an engineering, mathematics or science subject. You will also need excellent mathematical notation and basic computer programming skills. You’ll need to provide a statement about your proposed work placement addressing the following: Tell us about the industry you want to work in. - How does control and systems engineering relate to this industry? - What do you hope to contribute, as a placement student, to this industry or company? - You may also have a telephone or Skype interview with the admissions tutor.
